Simões Pires, a Brazilian consulting and law firm with national operations and headquarters in São Paulo, has opened its new office based in Chicago, Illinois.
The expansion aims to integrate clients with an international profile into the North American market. Amanda Neuenfeld Pegoraro (pictured), partner and attorney at law, will head the Chicago operation.
Amanda highlights that the presence in Chicago improves the offering of services related to import and export, logistics network, M&A, corporate, and international planning. “Chicago is a strategic region for American agribusiness and industry, and we are here to intensify our support to Brazilian clients who already have, or wish to have, international operations, leading strategies and new technologies,” says the partner.
The new office brings Simões Pires closer to the Chicago Board of Trade, the Chicago stock exchange, which trades over 50 commodities, including energy and metals, and serves as a global pricing benchmark for the agricultural market. The prices of soybeans and corn traded on CBOT are crucial for agribusiness in the center-west region of Brazil, where Simões has an office in Mato Grosso state.
Chicago, with a metropolitan area of nearly 10 million inhabitants, is the second largest transport and logistics hub in the U.S. and plays a central role in the production, distribution, and innovation of the food and beverage sector. The city has been the birthplace of 18 unicorns to date and functions as a center for investment attraction and new technology creation.
